My mom and I were planning on making apple cranberry crisp for dessert for Christmas dinner, but as we were serving dinner, we realized it was the one thing we didn't make. (We had chocolate candied orange slices instead and they are always a treat.) Since I had the cranberries in the freezer and the apple were needing to be used, when my mom texted me and said she had some crisp in the oven, I thought I would make one too. I was delish for sure, gluten free of course and super easy to make. I didn't actually use a recipe, but all crisps are pretty much the same, right? Fruit of choice, citrus juice, sugar, oat and sugar and butter topping.
And mix it up.
In dishes waiting for crumbly buttery oat topping.
Butter, GF rolled oats, more butter, brown sugar, pinch of salt, little more butter, vanilla and vanilla brandy, all mixed and ready to top the pretty fruit.
Ready to bake in oven at 350 degrees for about 40 min.
This one is gonna be juicy! I can hardly wait! And in the oven it goes. I wait, and smell the aroma coming form the oven, and wait some more. Smells so good.
Steaming, bubbly, gooey goodness waiting to cool enough to be eaten.
Look at that color. Cranberries are the most gorgeous red.
Ice cream to melt into the crisp. The oat topping was caramely and oh so yummy. I think this works for breakfast too, it has fruit and oats, just dribble a little cream over and breakfast is served.
Have a great day and I hope you enjoy whatever you make and or eat this weekend.
XOXO
